Blog house cleaning and new RSS feeds

Today, I decided to do a bit of reorganization on my blog. The main reason being the number of gemlog entries that are now more numerous than my blog posts.

And this is “normal” because I write on this blog about technical things I’m doing (could be home automation, selfhosting, coding or whatever). On the other hand, my gemlog content is about either gemini1 related stuff (including software I write for it) or more personal opinion that I don’t want to mix with this blog content.

The “split” works well for me and I prefer to keep it like this. But it raised a few questions:

  • Most visible entries at top of the page are gemlog, doesn’t it break the purpose of the blog?
  • Do people not interested in gemini wants to still see these posts displayed and potentially in their RSS feeds?

Then, I decided to reorganize the homepage, that now lists latest 5 blog entries at the top and then the latest 5 gemlog entries. For those, like me, who want a single page with all entries of a blog, I added a simple blog page listing all blog entries, no pager (simpler to search). And I kept the same gemini page for everything related to that world.

I decided as well to provide different RSS feeds that you can find on the dedicated RSS page. For now (and I think for a long time), the available feeds are:

That’s it for today, I know this blog hasn’t been very active if you don’t count the gemini specific posts but it will probably come back again like each time :).
