Bloguidien rapidfire - Q4 2024 edition
Introduction
Following my previous posts about the bloguidien “challenge”, I lost track of it because the past two months have been very busy. Instead of writing a lot of small posts, I decided to do a “bloguidien rapid fire”, meaning I’ll answer all the short answered questions in one post (only the one I want to respond to of course). I may do that monthly as a fun thing so I’ll skip any questions from January at this stage. I may still answer some old one in longer format too, I don’t know yet.
So let’s start!

15th: A trip you regret? Why?
None! Even though I did not enjoy all my trips, I believe every trip will help you learn and grow, by just being somewhere outside your usual area. New people always teach you things. Sometimes in a good way, sometimes not. Even travelling within your own country will let you learn things. And I never regret learning or growing. Even if I admit, sometimes the trip itself is painful, there is always at least one thing that makes you think and learn.
21st: Music that has left its mark on you, turned you upside down, moved you and that you absolutely want to share.
There are so many… Music is something that always brings emotion, one way or another, at least to me. But I’ll share 2 (well 4):
- “Classical / piaono” type of music: Ludovico Einaudi because I love what he does, my 2 preferred one are “Experience” and “Una Mattina”
- “Raw” hip hop (can hurt sensible ears :P): Ill Bill: My Uncle and JMT + Ill Bill: Heavy metal kings
Thinking about it, it is weird that my 2 preferred music genre are so opposite: classical music and raw / underground hip hop (eg: Jedi Mind Tricks)… But that’s how it is :).
24th: Which person (living or not) would you like to pay tribute to?
Wow, there are so many… Just to name a few (in no particular order):
- Socrates
- Epicure
- Marcus Aurelius
- Spinoza
- Étienne Klein
Interesting to see that in the 5 first names that came to mind, only one is alive…
25th: A book that left its mark on you, moved you, and that you absolutely want to share.
Again, so many others I could share here… But let’s try to keep it short to 5.
- Meditations - Marcus Aurelius
- Apology - Plato; Also Republic
- Propaganda - Edward Bernays
- 1984 - George Orwell
- Brave new world - Aldous Huxley
27th: What is your favorite body modification (tattoo, piercing, etc.) that you have on you?
My avatar (the Dragon head and the Kanji) is inked forever on my body. Not the only one but my first one and the one that “represent” me now.
29th: You start a 7 hour train journey, what do you do?
Read, write, code, sleep. Not necessary in that order. Not necessary all four all the time.
November
4th: Give a random fun fact.
I’ve been gifted custom made cufflink with the dragon head of my avatar on them. It is so cool, can’t thank my mother enough for this gift :).
6th: Cat or Dog, what is your preference and why?
Of course dog!
18th: What’s your last impulse purchase that won’t leave your drawer after a week of use?
A small foldable bluetooth keyboard that I bought to write on my phone (as I hate typing on a touchscreen)… But I’ve never used it except to connect it to my phone…
December
2nd: An anime that left its mark on you, moved you, and that you absolutely want to share.
I guess based on my avatar being inked on me that « Dragon Quest - Dai no Daiboken » is the one… But it isn’t the first anime/manga I read so I must also give credits to other ones: Dragon Ball and Saint Seiya and later Kenshin and then One Piece. Of course I could give a huge list, having 1600+ manga stored at home but I’ll stop here.
16th: You are a child and you would like to be one of the characters of your favorite anime. Which one do you choose?
Easy: Popp from Dragon Quest - Dai no Daiboken. Best Deuteragonist ever (not just in manga/anime).
26th: Other than the obvious (keys, wallet, phone, etc.) is there an item in your everyday bag that you always carry?
A pencil, as I’m the kind of person that write on books. So no matter which books I have in my backpack, I always have a pencil to write on it.
28th: You can reincarnate as any animal. Which one do you choose?
A bear? Or something that fly like an eagle? Don’t know to be honnest… Even a dog (owned by a loving family with enough money to feed me) is good enough I guess :).
Conclusion
I think I prefer doing rapidfire type of answers like this for “easy” question, either monthly or quarterly… We’ll see what the future hold for this!
